The Finals field is set.

This is The Sports Reset for Saturday October 10th

Two WNBA semifinal sweeps settled the championship matchup. The Atlanta Dream eliminated the New York Liberty 85 to 83, as Angel Reese scored 22 points and Rhyne Howard added 21. Breanna Stewart missed a contested layup in the closing seconds, and Atlanta reached its first Finals since 2013. The Golden State Valkyries ousted the defending-champion Las Vegas Aces 87 to 77 in overtime. Kayla Thornton scored 18, while Gabby Williams delivered eight in overtime to send the second-year franchise to its first Finals. In the NHL, the Washington Capitals beat the New York Rangers 3 to 1 after Igor Shesterkin left with a leg injury. The Columbus Blue Jackets edged the Pittsburgh Penguins 3 to 2 in a shootout, the Seattle Kraken beat the Detroit Red Wings 6 to 3, and the Anaheim Ducks topped the Winnipeg Jets 5 to 1. In college football, the Louisville Cardinals beat the Florida State Seminoles 44 to 20, powered by Isaac Brown’s career-high 235 rushing yards and record 97-yard touchdown.

Looking ahead, MLB’s American League Division Series comes down to Game 5, with the Chicago White Sox visiting the Cleveland Guardians. The road team has won each of the first four games, and Gavin Williams starts for Cleveland against Sean Burke, with the Tampa Bay Rays waiting in the ALCS. In the NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs visit the Colorado Avalanche, the Minnesota Wild meet the Florida Panthers, and the Dallas Stars face the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Edmonton Oilers play the San Jose Sharks, while the Los Angeles Kings visit the Vegas Golden Knights. Off the field, NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka died Friday at 86 after a career that transformed the tight end position and included coaching the Chicago Bears to their only Super Bowl championship.
