In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 123 to 88, with Caitlin Clark putting up 27 points and 11 assists while Kelsey Mitchell added 23. Indiana set a franchise scoring record, shot 62 percent, and had 70 points by halftime. The Minnesota Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 86 to 76 as Napheesa Collier returned with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and the New York Liberty slipped past the Chicago Sky 95 to 94 after Sabrina Ionescu scored nine points in the final minute. In MLB, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9 to 5 behind Max Muncy’s go-ahead homer and Tommy Edman’s bases-clearing triple, while the Pittsburgh Pirates took Game 1 of their doubleheader with the New York Yankees 5 to 3 before the Yankees answered 2 to 0 in Game 2.

Looking ahead, MLB carries today with the San Diego Padres back at Truist Park against the Atlanta Braves after Atlanta’s 7 to 6 win last night, and the Minnesota Twins visit the Cleveland Guardians after Minnesota scored 10 there yesterday. The Tampa Bay Rays are in Toronto against the Blue Jays, the Arizona Diamondbacks and St. Louis Cardinals play their June makeup at Busch Stadium, and the Kansas City Royals visit the Detroit Tigers. In golf, the 3M Open gets rolling at TPC Twin Cities with Mackenzie Hughes, Taylor Moore, and Max Greyserman listed at even early, while the LPGA’s Women’s Scottish Open has Perrine Delacour, Nataliya Guseva, and Ryann O’Toole at even. Later this week, the Dodgers head to New York for a Friday series opener against the Mets. Off the court, WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert and union leaders met to discuss stronger player protections from online harassment after several players publicly shared threats and abuse.
