In MLB, the San Francisco Giants gave Wednesday the loudest swing, beating the Milwaukee Brewers 16 to 3. Daniel Susac hit the first two home runs of his major league career, including a three-run shot in the second, and Luis Arraez added four singles as San Francisco turned a 3 to 2 game into a blowout with a seven-run sixth. Logan Webb also did his part, allowing two runs over six innings. Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Seattle Mariners 4 to 2, and the New York Mets split their doubleheader with the Atlanta Braves, taking Game 1 by a 3 to 2 score before Atlanta answered 1 to 0 in Game 2. In the WNBA, the Atlanta Dream edged the Dallas Wings 82 to 81, and the Phoenix Mercury held off the Golden State Valkyries 91 to 89.

Looking ahead, golf gets a strong early spotlight, with the AIG Women’s Open underway and Alice Hewson setting the early pace at 3 under, one shot ahead of Cassie Porter and Minami Katsu. In MLB, the Seattle Mariners get another crack at the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, while the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox continue their series in Chicago after another tight night in that matchup. In the WNBA, the New York Liberty at Las Vegas Aces is the matchup to watch, with the Minnesota Lynx visiting the Toronto Tempo and the Connecticut Sun at Chicago Sky also on the board. On the PGA Tour, the Rocket Classic starts with Brendon Todd, Lanto Griffin, and Joel Dahmen all listed at even par. Beyond the scoreboard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea has requested a trade after stalled extension talks, putting a two-time Pro Bowler into the middle of NFL training-camp business.
