Thorbjornsen closes it!

This is The Sports Reset for Monday August 3rd

Michael Thorbjornsen finished off the PGA’s Rocket Classic at 18 under, two shots clear of Xander Schauffele and three ahead of Davis Riley, giving Sunday’s individual slate its top winner. On the LPGA side, Shiho Kuwaki took the AIG Women’s Open at 5 under, with Esther Henseleit and Yealimi Noh one back. In MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies handled the Baltimore Orioles 8 to 0, while the Boston Red Sox beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8 to 4 in a notable interleague road win. The New York Yankees edged the Chicago Cubs 2 to 1 at Wrigley Field, and the Minnesota Lynx outlasted the Indiana Fever 108 to 100 in WNBA play. In WTA tennis, Kristina Liutova and Laura Samson both came through three-set finals.

Looking ahead, MLB gets a strong Monday reset with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Chicago Cubs, where Shohei Ohtani’s early power and Andy Pages’ run production give that matchup real star pull at Wrigley Field. The St. Louis Cardinals visit the New York Yankees, and the Toronto Blue Jays go to the Houston Astros in another series opener with playoff-race weight. In WNBA action, the Seattle Storm visit the New York Liberty, the Las Vegas Aces go to the Atlanta Dream, and the Phoenix Mercury face the Chicago Sky. In tennis, the Mubadala DC Open finals bring Taylor Fritz against Rafael Jodar on the ATP side and Jessica Pegula against Alexandra Eala on the WTA side.
