Brennan wins the Wyndham!

This is The Sports Reset for Monday August 10th

In PGA golf, Michael Brennan won the Wyndham Championship at 22 under, three shots ahead of Beau Hossler and four clear of Ben James. It is Brennan’s second PGA Tour victory after his breakthrough win last fall came in just his third career start and first as a professional. In NASCAR, Ty Gibbs took the Cup Series race at Iowa, with Christopher Bell second and Ryan Blaney third. In the WNBA, the New York Liberty overwhelmed the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces, 111 to 71, while the Minnesota Lynx beat the Dallas Wings, 103 to 90. In MLB, the New York Mets rolled past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 11 to 1, and the Atlanta Braves edged the New York Yankees, 2 to 1.

Looking ahead, the MLB schedule brings the Kansas City Royals to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani had already won eight of his first 10 pitching decisions with a 1.58 ERA by early July, adding another layer to every Dodgers series. The Mets visit the Braves after the teams produced two one-run games in their previous Atlanta series, and the Boston Red Sox open at the Toronto Blue Jays with Willson Contreras entering the week as Boston’s leading power threat. In the WNBA, the Toronto Tempo face the Atlanta Dream, who have won three straight and lead the league with 11.1 offensive rebounds per game. Marina Mabrey gives Toronto an answer at 21 points per game. Later this week, the PGA Tour postseason begins Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis.
