Indiana lights it up!

This is The Sports Reset for Wednesday August 12th

In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever beat the New York Liberty 106 to 92 behind a blistering first half. Kelsey Mitchell scored 20 of her 28 points before halftime, Caitlin Clark finished with 22 points and 10 assists, and the Fever made 16 of 25 three-pointers. The win moved Indiana to 21 and 12, atop the Eastern Conference. The Las Vegas Aces also stopped the Washington Mystics 86 to 76, ending Washington’s seven-game winning streak as A’ja Wilson posted 26 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. In MLB, the New York Yankees scored four runs in the seventh inning to beat the Seattle Mariners 4 to 1. Ryan McMahon and Trent Grisham supplied two-run singles, sending Seattle to a fifth straight loss. The Los Angeles Dodgers edged the Kansas City Royals 5 to 4.

Looking ahead, the Yankees and Mariners meet again in MLB at Yankee Stadium. New York enters at 67 and 52, six games behind Tampa Bay in the American League East, while Seattle sits four and a half back in the AL West and needs to stop that five-game slide. The New York Mets also visit the Atlanta Braves after Atlanta’s pitching shut out the Mets on Tuesday. In the WNBA, the Minnesota Lynx take a 27 and 7 record, best in the Western Conference, into a road game against the Portland Fire. The other late game sends the Chicago Sky to the Golden State Valkyries, who are 23 and 9 and riding four straight wins. Golden State trails Minnesota by three games in the West, keeping every result important in that race.
