The New York Yankees pulled away from the Houston Astros 9 to 3 after Cody Bellinger broke a tie with a bases-loaded double in a six-run seventh; Ben Rice also hit his 35th homer. In the WNBA, the Golden State Valkyries beat the Connecticut Sun 89 to 64. Janelle Salaun scored 15 points, while Golden State finished a 14-to-0 first-half run and received a franchise-record 54 points from its bench.

Looking ahead, the Braves and Dodgers finish their MLB series with Chris Sale, carrying a 2.20 ERA, facing Yoshinobu Yamamoto and his 2.61 mark as Los Angeles tries to avoid a sweep.
