In PGA golf, Scottie Scheffler finished 16 under to win the Tour Championship and his second FedEx Cup in three years, three strokes ahead of Viktor Hovland. Scheffler erased a three-shot Sunday deficit with a final-round 66, caught Hovland at the 10th and moved ahead for good with a birdie at 16. In the LPGA, Ruoning Yin won the FM Championship at 14 under, two strokes clear of Hyo Joo Kim, after a 25-foot birdie at 12 and another birdie at 18 ended a 672-day title drought. In MLB, the New York Yankees routed the Boston Red Sox 16 to 1, as Will Warren worked more than seven innings and Heliot Ramos hit his first Yankees homer, a three-run shot that helped secure the season-series tiebreaker. In the WNBA, the Atlanta Dream beat the league-leading Minnesota Lynx 89 to 81. Allisha Gray delivered 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Angel Reese recorded her league-record 29th double-double of the season.

Looking ahead, MLB’s top game sends the Milwaukee Brewers to Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs. Milwaukee arrives at 85 and 51 with four straight wins, and Kyle Harrison brings a 10 and 3 record and 2.79 ERA into his matchup with Clay Holmes, whose ERA is 2.26. The Seattle Mariners visit the Red Sox, with George Kirby opposing Payton Tolle, while the Yankees move west to face the Los Angeles Angels. The Philadelphia Phillies also open a series at the Arizona Diamondbacks. Later this week, college football moves into its opening weekend: the Colorado Buffaloes visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Thursday, the Clemson Tigers face the 11th-ranked LSU Tigers on Saturday, and the Wisconsin Badgers meet the fourth-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
